One month in and the results keep coming! A few new lessons learned and some new favourite healthy snacks! For those of you that need to catch up with our very first success story participant…check it out here & here!

One Month Check In:

Weight: Down 3lbs!!! (Total of 6.5lbs)

Lessons Learned:

Wynter’s Wendy’s experience…

It was during the heat wave and the last thing I wanted to do was to cook in front of an oven or even the BBQ. I could have picked Subway or a family restaurant and picked a healthy salad, but Wendy’s was calling my name, so off we went (my husband and I)! The line was long, so I had plenty of time to make a healthy decision…but I was about to make my 2nd mistake, my first mistake was pulling into the parking lot!!! I was watching a man in front of me order the Cobb salad and I thought to myself “That is not a very nice looking salad for $8.99!” So, I ordered my Big Bacon Classic with a double patty, I was so ravished that I felt one patty could possibly not fill me (keep in mind we were in a middle of a heat wave and I was clearly thinking irrationally). While I waiting for my food, one of the employees added a grilled chicken breast to what had previously been the not so appealing Cobb salad. This snapped me out of my fast food daze, and I instantly started feeling guilty. Let’s just say the whole time I ate my meal deal, I felt guilty and dreamt about that beautiful salad the whole time. Needless to say I did not enjoy my burger and it was not worth the extra calories!!!

  • Avoid fast food joints if at all possible
  •  If there is no other choice, go with a single patty burger or a kid’s meal (smaller portions = less calorie damage)
  •  Sometime fast food salads can be very high in calories (Big Bacon Classic Burger = 880cal & 53g fat, Cobb Salad = 670cal & 49g fat)

Favourite New Snack: Baby carrots & hummus

Favourite New Breakfast: Egg whites, 1 slice of Blue Menu ham on a Blue Menu bagel (with a tad bit of mayo)

Upcoming Excitement: Establishing a gym routine (stay tuned for a post on our first free weight experience!) and a new yoga adventure (in the privacy of one’s basement).

That is so awesome and absolutely true. I have the bad habit that if I do decide to do fast food, I figure go big or go home. I don’t tend to pick the go home option often enough. Then I eat the whole thing and feel very sick after.

Keep up the great work, it is quite inspiring! 🙂
